Trauma-informed practice

Trauma-informed practice training workshop for anyone who is leading groups, especially anyone using any sort of mindfulness-based practices, guided visualisations etc.

Trauma is always ‘in the room’, so how do we both minimise its effects and respond to people who are finding it hard to be present in group practices? And how do we acknowledge the social context of trauma and take collective responsibility for it?

This training will cover defining what we mean by trauma and the language around it; setting up a trauma-sensitive environment including how to be as inclusive as possible for a diversity of people; and responding when someone becomes dysregulated during a group session.

Aims of this workshop:

  • To explore different ways of understanding trauma
  • To understand what trauma ‘looks like’ in a group setting
  • To learn how to set up a ‘trauma-sensitive’ environment when leading groups, including how to be as inclusive as possible
  • To learn different practices for supporting ourselves and others in dysregulation
